Sketch Frenzy Friday 08/31/12

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Mom is resting comfortably now. She went in for her 3rd surgery on that darn left shoulder. "It was a mess" the Dr. said. The infection destroyed much of the tissue and muscle in her shoulder but, he said in time much of it will repair it's self. They took out all of the replacement parts that were cemented in to the shoulder but in doing so he broke the top of the shoulder bone. We knew that may happen. He cleaned out the infected tissue as best he could but said he may have to go in 2-3 more times before it all gets cleared up. She will not be able to move or lift her arm up and down but will have use of her elbow and hand. If the muscles do grow back she may be able to move the arm enough to be somewhat useful. She is so cute, she said "You mean I won't be able to curl my hair"?

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, this has been a very long haul for her. I pray it is over and she will recover quickly. Thanks for listening.

Now own to our Mini Blog Hop!

Tammy Fite is this weeks sketch designer and boy is it a good one! I had no idea what I was going to make. not even a clue. Sometimes I think cards make themselves and it just came together.
I really liked how my card turned out! I don't say that often. Sometimes a card just Pops and I think this one did that. I played with a lot of different color combinations and settled on this one.

Pool Party, Island Indigo and Calypso Coral they are last years SU In-Colors. I paired it with a piece of the International Bazaar DSP. Under the sentiment I added a half piece of the Lattice Die and one of the the new Apothecary Accent Framelit pieces. I punched out For You with the Large Oval and mounted it with dimensional. I really like how it turned out. I hope you do too!

Here is the inside.
This card feels fun and cheery. The inside sentiment is from the From My Heart stamp set.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 8/24/12

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

OOPS! I must have forgotten to publish it last night! Sorry!

I can't believe we are moving in one month! I have just started to sort/ sell/ giveaway and trash all kinds of things I don't need or don't use. I had better get  packing soon too! We just moved in June of last year and I did a bunch of that sort of thing then too. How come it all this stuff starts to creep back up on me. Any one else have that happen to them???  This time we are going very, very light. So a good portion of it must go.

Enough of the moving business lets talk about sketches and card making it's way more fun!

This weeks sketch challenge was designed by Tina Munzke. Tina came up with an interesting twist on our sketch this week. She added directions on how to make the card. Fun hugh! Great job Tina, thanks for the fun challenge.

Ok, it's on! Lets see what I can come up with for this weeks sketch challenge?

I chose Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White as my main colors. Then, I used a row of my favorite DSP International Bazaar. I only selected the specified colors for my row as this paper has the most amazing colors in it. Next, I randomly stamped the leaf image from Fabulous Florets stamp set on a scrap of Rich Razleberry CS and ran it through the Big Shot in the Stripes embossing folder. The sentiment was stamped in Rich Razzleberry it is from the Apothecary Art stamp set. Here is a look at the inside

The sentiment is from the Blessings from Heaven stamp set. I thought a row of falling leaves would be fun along the side. The leaves were stamped in Pacific Point, Rich Razleberry and Bashful Blue. Oh ya, the style of the card is called a tent fold. I rounded the bottom edges to give it some softness. I think a card with all straight lines make it look very ridged and there are a lot of straight lines in this card!.

My Little Patch of Dirt is moving to Martinsburg, WV

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Well the cat is out of the bag and every one who needs to know, knows! My little patch of dirt is moving East. Jeff accepted a position in Martinsburg West Virginia and we should be headed out that way by the end of September.

Do I have any stampers in or near the West Virginia PA, MD area that would like to do a meet up in a few months or so.? I will surly be looking for new friends to stamp with, because everyone I know lives in Calif!

We are very excited and grateful for the promotion but,  in the inside I am freaking out! Excited and Scared at the same time is very disconcerting. I have never lived out of the So. Cal area. (I don't get out much lololo.

I will be posting my regular SFF post on Fridays for a few more weeks, but as time draws nearer the stamping supplies will have to be packed up and put away. (Yikes)!!!!!

That is then and this is now. I am not going to put the cart ahead of the horse too far for now. I did get a chance to create a card today. I don't know how I did it. I had breakfast with one of my girlfriends earlier today and then Jeff and I went to two separate birthday parties for two of the cutest little girls I know. Sydney turned 3 and had a Princess Pool Party and the second party was for the little girl I baby set. Angelina just turned 9 at a local Pizza parlor. Both of my little girls had a great day.
It was all a lot of fun but, also very busy.

Here is what I came up with. Saying good by to all the lovely girlfriends I have in CAI need to make lot's of cards.

I hope you all had a great weekend and you too found some time to create!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 08/17/12

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

It is Sketch Frenzy Friday time! I thank my father in heaven every day for these SFF sketch challenges. Things have been so crazy the last few months my time in the craft room has been almost non existent, so I am extremely grateful for our Friday challenge. I made a commitment to participate in these weekly sketch challenges and thank goodness I did.

However, next week I will have an announcement that will cause me to be away for about a month in the near future. So stay tuned as I still have a few things to take care of prior to letting the cat out of the bag.
Thank you ladies for counting on me and for allowing me to be a part of this talented group of amazing designers. You all Rock!

Now, let's get on to the important stuff... our challenge! Tammy F designed this weeks sketch! I was so excited when I pulled it up. Most of the time I do not look ahead at the sketch line up. That way I will totally have to work off the cuff so to speak. This week's sketch was no exception and it was an amazing surprise. Good job Tammy!

This is my version.

I love, love, love one of this years new SU In Colors called Gumball Green. It is such a rich and cheery color. I paired it with the International Bazaar DSP. Then matted a few of the Framelets Labels Collection Dies for the focal image. I really like how the white piece around the DSP piece made the center piece pop.  The sentiments are from the Apothecary Art and My Friend stamp sets. This is about as clean and simple as I can get. Here is a look at the inside.

I hope you enjoyed my card and get inspired to create something fun for yourself. Then you can download it on to our home page so we can see what you have come up with. Use this link to do so http://sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/.

Hello, It's been awhile. Magnet Project

Hi my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy.

I made these cute magnets the other day and thought I would share them with you. I have been off the radar for awhile lately and wanted to just check in. I will also have my SFF post ready for you tomorrow too so come back OK.

These are really fun  and very easy to make.
Here is the photo of the back with the magnet strips, and a look at the side view that shows how the cloths pins are positioned. I used tacky strip to secure everything to the covered cardboard and clothepins. I found that if I use some extra heavy cardboard to make the backing it holds up much better.

For the embellishments, I made some fun charms and added a few decorative beads. I colored the baby clothespins by dabbing them with ink. I put a few different sizes of butterflies randomly on the front. Add a tag and a twine bow to makes this an extra special and a very fun gift. If you match it with a card that will make it even more special. Oh yah, a strip of Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border fits perfectly over the clothespins by the way.
I am not the originator of this project. I received one as a gift last year. Believe it was copied from a project out of the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up Catalog.

Hope you have a great day and  and get a bit of inspiration from these cute little magnets. Give them a try they are really easy to make!

Sketch Frenzy Friday 08-10-12

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

It's Hot, Hot, Hot! Over 100 all week long! 109, 110, 107 , I  hope you are all keeping cool and taking it easy during this heat wave.

Yikes! My poor little patch of dirt is cooking! I am from the school of thought for the survival of the fittest but a little water goes a long way in a garden that's for sure. We will have to see what makes it after this heat wave.

School has started here and I only have to work 2 part time days per week. I'm very happy about that because now I can get back to blogging and having more time in my craft room. Speaking of being in the craft room our sketch this week is from our very talented Sharon Wheet. Take a look at this beauty.

This is what I came up with
I used the large Framelits-Apothecary Accents Die turned it sideways and trimmed it down. I used the Comfort Cafe DSP for the background piece.I am really enjoying the "From My Heart" stamp set. I used it for the focal image and the sentiment  on the inside. This set has endless possibilities for it's uses. The Early Espresso background piece was ran through the Big Shot with the Fancy Fan Textured Impression Embossing Folder. A Cherry Cobbler scrap was made by punching the edges with the Decorative Label Punch and stamping the swirl image from Elements of style in VersaMark. A few pearls and a 3 loop bow of Bakers Twine makes this card a real beauty.
Here is a look at the inside
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I sure hope you find some time to create something fun a well.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 08/03/12

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Do you have something good planned for your weekend? We are just going to kick back and do nothing!!!!! Yippee. I need a break that's for sure. How about you ? School starts here next week so I will only be working part time thank goodness. I am not used to working so much, it was fun and I will probably miss my little companion. Maybe I can start to spend a lot more time in the craft room again! Doesn't that sound like heaven (BIG SMILE).

This weeks sketch was created by Robbie Rubula and it was a good one. Here is a look at it.

I have a great idea, why don't you join us and let us see what you come up with too????

Here is my card
I just loved this sketch. The little curled edges made me feel like I was turning  pages in a book. I needed a card for a girlfriend so the sentiment "My Friend" from the stamp set buy the same name came in handy. I used several pieces from this set on the card. I also used one of my favorite sentiments from the "Blessings from Heaven" stamp set. I featured two of our the new SU in colors Gumball Green and Midnight Muse CS as well as Early Espresso and Crumb Cake regular CS. I added a touch of Midnight Muse ink to the Antique Brad to try to soften the white in the brad, in person it looks better I think! The butterflies gives the card a whimsical look. I'm not sure if you can see it or not but I did use VersaMark on the background images and even added Gold Embossing Powder to the dew drop image. I liked how that gave it a little extra special touch.

Next is a look at the inside.
That's all there is to it.
I hope you find some time to create something fun yourself and if you do remember we would love to see your work! Please upload a photo of your card to our homepage here http://sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/
