Free Butterfly Bonett Tutorial

Hello my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy.

My Mom is doing great and is amazingly up and around considering that she is 86 years old and just had surgery on Friday to have a shoulder replacement put in. I am in awe and amazed over modern science and to her attitude toward going through this procedure. Go Mom!
Well I do not have much time today to create something new I am fairly busy with getting things taken care of, so I thought I would pull up an old favorite and give you a free tutorial for the Bonnet Only. I may come up with a tutorial for the cards later this week.

I hope you enjoy it

Supplies: Big Shot,Polka Dot Impression Folder, Scallop Circle Punch,
Tombo Adhesive, On Board Book Scallop Circle, Sanding Block, Personal Cutter and Scissors.

Card Stock: Designer Series Paper Stack (Occasions Mini), White Card Stock, Old Olive (CS).

Ink: Rose Red Classic Ink.

Embellishments: Embosslets Beautiful Wings, Organza Ribbon 5/8”, Pretties Kit, Bigz Die SU
Beautiful Butterflies, Silver Elastic Cord.

Directions:
1) Cut 2- 3” White circles.
2) Cut 2- 3 ¾” circles 1-in DSP, 1-in white.
3) Center one of the 3” circles in the center of the DSP circle and the other in center
of the white 3”circle.
4) Trace the 3” circles on both circles and draw lines to the 3” circle line.
5) Then cut little incisions to the circle line.
6) Fold the little incisions up to form a cup.

7) Glue the 3” circles to the inside of the cups. (This makes the hat top/bottom more secure)

8) Cut two 2 ½” x 11” strips, one in DSP and the other strip in White card stock.
9) Attach the white strip to the white folded circle cup using Tombo Adhesive set aside to dry.

10) Once dry attach the DSP 3 3/4” cup to the top of white strip to form a barrel.

11) Attach DSP to the barrel with Tombo adhesive & secure with a rubber band or hair tie.
Once the barrel is completed set it aside to dry.
12) Trace the Chip Board Scallop Circle on DSP. Cut the scallop circle out and attach it
to the chip board with Tombo Adhesive. Set aside to dry.

13) Once the scallop circle is dry sand the edges until smooth and flush with chip board.
14) Use the piece of sponge to highlight the edges of the DSP Scallop and to cover up the edge of the chipboard with Rose Red ink.

15) Attach the DSP barrel to the scallop circle with Tombo Adhesive. Offset the barrel slightly to leave room for the embellishments. Place the seam to
face the larger area, as the embellishments will cover the seam.

Embellish: Wrap Organza Ribbon around the barrel of the hat, secure it and tie a fluffy bow. Cut one
medium butterfly from the Bigz Die run it through the Big Shot with the
Polka Dot Textured Folder and highlight the edges with Rose Red ink. Cut out one
set of butterflies from the Embosslet Beautiful Wings Die set in DSP.
Attach two of the butterflies to the larger white butterfly and wrap the silver
Elastic Cord length wise around the butterfly to make a body and antenna. Make two
scallop circle flowers set aside. Make a hat pen with the pretties kit and a set
aside. Once all the embellishments have been assembled attach them to the Hat as desired.

This is such an amazing looking project. I hope you have enjoy your visit and thanks for stopping by. Comeback anytime just to see what's new at My Little Patch Of Dirt.
Now it is your turn go create something fun.

SFF022511 Sketch Frenzy Friday

Hello my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

It's Sketch Frenzy Friday on Saturday! This is the Sketch
and this is what I came up with!
This will have to be a short post. My 86 year old Mother went into surgery yesterday. She had her left shoulder replaced. She came through wonderfully and is doing great. I just got the call that she will be released today so I will not post tomorrow. Gotta go and take care of my Mom!

Supplies used
Textured Embossing Folder Square Lattace
Basic Black, Natural White and Cherry Cobbler Card Stock.

Embellishments-Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding,Rhinestones Clear and Black, Glimmer Brad. Corner Scallop Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch.

A Special request was made asking how I made the center embellishment. I cut a 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 piece of card stock. I then put that piece in side the Corner Scallop Punch following the dotted lines on the punch it's self. Then I punched out the two opposite sides only
That's it!~ Easy Peasy :)
Have a great day, now it's your turn go create something fun.

PPA 82-CAS Elements of Style Scallops Challenge

Hello my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I saw this interesting challenge over at Paper Pals Art and thought I would give it a try. http://www.palspaperarts.com
Scallops, and Clean and Simple??? As you probably know from visiting my blog, I do not create too many Clean and Simple cards, but here goes everything lolol. This card is about as Clean and Simple as I could make it by adding in scallops and more scallops.
Supplies:
(DSP) Designer Series Paper- News Print
Card Stock- Basic Black
Accessories- 1 Medium Vanilla Rosetts, 3 Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware Medium Brads, Tag Punch, Linen Thread, 1/16 Hand Held Punch, Scallop Corner Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border, Dimensionals, Scallop Edge Border Punch and a Corner Rounder Punch.

The center black piece was punched out of a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 square. Just center the Scallop Ribbon Border Punch equally on all 4 sides to make this pretty frame. Then I used the Corner Rounder Punch to soften the corners. I am not the creator of this idea, I saw it on line a few month ago. If you know who the creator is please let me know and I will give them credit. It sure is cute thought, but it took several tries to get a piece that worked the way I wanted it to.
(HOT TIP)
I do not use my good card stock to practice on projects or ideas I have never worked on before. I use inexpensive paper for practicing until I get the desired result lollollol.
The smaller cream DSP square was punched from a 2 1/8 x 2 1/8 square. Note:  I had to trim the center piece a bit as it came out too sharp.
Hope you all have a great day and now it is your turn to go create something fun.

Fancy Gate Fold #2

Hello to all my blogging friends. I hope this post find you all well and happy!

I just can not get enough of the Gate Fold Card layout. There are so many different card ideas and options that you can make out of it!
Here is a little something I made today, I think it came out nicely. It was one of those cards that just took forever to make lolol.
I changed the color of the background paper and the bow I even added DSP squares at the end. I colored about 8 butterflies until I decided on which four I was going to use. Then I added a very light coat of the Shimmer Paint to the wings of the butterflies. It almost took all day to bring you what I have here. Thank goodness this was a housework free day for me or dinner was going to be late hahahah.

I even did a little something to the inside. I have to put that Bliss stamp set away for awhile. Can we say OK enough of the Bliss stamp already.
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set- Bliss

Classic Ink -Basic Black & Soft Suede.
Card Stock - Cherry Cobbler & Early Espresso.
Designer Series Paper (DSP) - Botanical Gazette.

Embellishments- Glimmer Brads, Frost White Shimmer Paint, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding, Water Color Pencils, Glue Dots, Ultra thin Paint Brush & one 1/6th wedge of a sponge.

My daughter does Teen  Youth Ministry at her church and their slogan for this year is "LOVE IS THE AGENDA"
http://www.generatelife.com

There group has these really cute Tee Shirts with a Grunge style heart and design on them along with the slogan.
They are having a contest to see who can take the most outrageous and or fun photo with the Generate Logo/Slogan
She asked me to make her a poster of the slogan and then she was going to have lobsters holding up the sign. Here is the Poster I made for her. I could not find the picture on facebook that she took with the lobsters holding up the sign? It was really cute! That's all I have for today.
Have a great day everyone. Now it is your turn, go create something fun.

Soaking Saturday Stamping 411 Challenge 191

Hello my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy and safe and warm!

We had so many plans for things to do today but we only accomplished one of them. Sometimes it just happens that way. But I did have a moment to re-do the card I made yesterday. I felt some of the lines on it were too straight. So I re-worked it a bit and rounded all the corners and played with the ribbon and made it appear more curvy or wavy!
Here it is, What do you all think? Same card only a little softer.
I was checking my e-mails and saw the Saturday Stamping 411 Challenge and low and behold this card fits the bill. So here is their sketch and the link to their blog http://stamping411.blogspot.com/2011/02/saturday-sketch-challenge-191.html

and here is my card See what I mean!
Boy it has been a very long day and I am pooped out! It rained all darn day and really hard too. If it keeps up like this our poor little dirt road is going to be totally washed out. Can I say 4 Wheel Dr. Not! we have a Honda lolol.
Ok, I'm hitting the hay now it's your turn you go create something fun.

Hey look what I found (Smile)This card was selected as one of the Top 5 Picks on the Stampers Showcase . Now how cool is that! Thanks Ladies!

It's a Rainey Friday

Hello my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Wow, it has rained most of the week this week. We always get so surprised and unprepared when it rains for a few days at a time around here. (I know, Silly Californians) For me it's a great excuse to create, read a book, watch a movie or just cuddle up. My little patch of dirt is all soggy and  there is no way I can get out there and do any yard work (oh bummer, sob).

I was messing around in my craft room today trying to finish my swap and noticed that some of the DSP  I had cut last night was missing?? Have you ever had that happen? You know (think) you cut enough pieces and come back the next day and the pieces are not where you left them?? Now I can not find any extra DSP to replace those pieces??? So I looked through my stash and found something that will work nicely but it just isn't exact. I think there are little paper snatcher that come in just to mess with me lololol.

Here is a little something I made up using an extra oval I cut out. I hope you like it!

Have a great weekend. Please stay dry and safe! Now it's your turn to go create something fun!

Sisterhood of the Traveling Stampers Card Club

Hello to all my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Wouldn't you know it. I worked in the garden Wednesday and spent over an hour watering. Then I wake up yesterday morning and it had rained at night??? Gurr!!! It's too muddy to work out there so I guess I will just have to play in my studio (A great name for my craft room lolol).

I am a member of a monthly card swap group called the Sisterhood of the Traveling Stampers Card Club or STSCC for short.
We have monthly themes and this month we have to do a technique. I tried to do the Faux Marble Technique for a background with rubbing alcohol and re-inkiers on glossy card stock. It just didn't turn out how I wanted it to so I did a twist on it and smeared the colors together. I do not know if this is an official background technique or not?  I wrote up directions of what I did and will send it off to the ladies. (Candace don't look ok or at least don't tell lololol) Here is what I came up with.

I also sent this link for a video tutorial using the Framed Tulip Embossing Folder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHi-kJR_p4o

This is all I have for now. Have a great day and go create something fun!

Something Fun

Hello my blogging friends. I hope this post find you all well and happy!

I was thinking all day yesterday what was I going to make for Valentines dinner???? So after a few hours tearing apart my little patch of dirt. I thought why not make Heart Shaped Tortillas for Tostadas.  I went into the kitchen after I got cleaned up and started cutting a heart shape out of the Tortilla. It was easy and they turned out so cute. Here is a picture of the Tortilla Heart.
I used a regular sized whole grain tortilla, fried it in a little canola oil and drained it . We put ground turkey, beans, cheese,  homemade Spanish Rice, lettuce and tomatoes and some homemade green salsa on top of them. They were yummy and so fun to eat.

I was in the garden again today for several hours. Splitting plants, digging up frost bitten damaged and burnt out plants. It is going to take me about 40-50 hours to get it all cleaned up but it will be worth it when April comes around. I have so many beautiful Irises and Agapantha (Lily of the Nile) that I can split up to fill in the holes so it will look nice by the time we have our annual Easter party.

I made a quick little card toady, mostly using the new Designer Series Paper- Spring Time Vintage. I cut out several of the large roses and double mounted some of them for depth and interest with dimensional and used glue dots to adhere it to the front of the card. I added a few pearls hear and there and a 4 1/4" length of Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding to the lower portion of the card. For the base of the card ( I cut the card stock at 4 1/4 x 11 so it flips up and stands like and isle) I used Kraft card stock and ran the front piece through the Big Shot using the Polka Dot Impression Folder. I punched out 2 pieces from the extra Large Punch, one in Marina Mist one in Cherry Cobbler. Then, I cut the Cherry Cobbler piece in half length wise and attached it to the top and bottom of the Marina Mist piece. I put a little cut out flower on a small piece of a dimensional in the top left corner and stamped the sentiment using the "because I CARE" piece from the Hostess Level One - Because I Care stamp set.

The inside of the card I cut out a few more flowers and glued them to the lower left and top right of the card. I used one of the pieces from the Occasional Quotes stamp set for the sentiment.
This is a side view picture so you can see that I used dimensionals.

That's all from me for today. Now it is your turn, go create something fun.

Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY !!!!!

Hello my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I dropped in today to say hello and do a quick challenge. I have to go outside a work on the garden. I promised myself I would get her whipped back into shape and do a little everyday. My little patch of dirt really has suffered, from the blazing heat of Sept-Oct , all the rains of Nov.- Dec. and then the Freezing nights Jan.- Feb. She has really taken a hit, HARD!And besides, I need some exercise, I have turned into a Computer Potato lolol.

Here is Mary Jo's Sketch and the addy: http://stampercamper.com/cardpost/natures_walk
and here is my card.

This is kind of a fun card, as the flower opens for you to see another little flower surprise inside.

I was soooo cold when I woke up this morning, I took my coffee and went outside to get warm and took a walk around the garden. It was kind of hazy still but looked like it wanted to be spring, so that is what inspired this card.
A Flower in a Pot! Hope you like it.
PS This is what my Honey gave us my DD & I for Valentines. One Doz. Red Roses each, one Box See's Chocolates each and for He and I a Box of Chocolate Dipped Strawberries (Smile) He is so good to us.

He loved his little candy jar and took it to work. I filled it with 3 bags of Dove Chocolates.  He is such a big guy no one will mess with his fru-fru jar of chocolates lololol.
I put another Romantic Valentine in his lunch box this morning too. Just sending him off with some extra lovin.
It's your turn, go create something fun!

It looks like something he can keep all year long (Maybe Not  lolol) lolol Always have to have a gift card too!

I also made close up pictures just in case you all wanted to see what all is involved. The above photo is the top. The remaining two are close ups.
