SFF 3/1/13

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this finds you well and happy!

I am soooo ready for spring how about you? I saw a few Daffodil greens popping up around town, YIPPEE! That means those pretty yellow blooms are sure to follow. I can't wait. But until them at least we have stamping to keep us happy right!

Speaking of stamping it's SFF time and this weeks sketch was designed by Tammy F. She did good, because it's a tricky one CAS to the max. Take a look.

See what I mean, Wow! What to do with four little squares????

Ok, so after some well deserved thought (Good challenge Tammy!) I came up with a card.

I so wanted to do something light and fun this week. I just purchased several new little punches and thought I would put them to work! What do you think of the idea of making balloons out of them for a bit of fun? How about a Scallop Circle, Oval, Curly Square and a Butterfly for a  fun Balloon Bouquet. There are matching strings holding the balloons together too!
This is a look at t he inside

Here is a list of all the Stampin' Up (SU) supplies I used to make this card.

Whisper White and Pool Party Card Stock (CS) and Sycamore Street DSP.
Small Oval, (New) Petite Curly Label, (New) Bitty Butterfly and the (New)7/8" Scallop Circle Punches.
Pursuit of Happiness and the (SAB) Sale-A-Bration Feeling Sentimental stamp sets.
Calypso Coral, Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party and Whisper White Bakers Twine.
Basic Pearls, Stampin' Dimensionals and Primrose Petals Classic Ink.

I think this is one of my favorite Clean and Simple (CAS) cards I have ever made. I hope you got a little inspiration from our sketch this week. I know Tammy really got me thinking that's for sure he,he.

We always love to see what you come up with so please download your card on to our blog here

Now the Chalk Board Technique

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I was blog hopping the other day and landed at Sandi McIvers blog. She had the greatest tutorial on how to make the chalk board tech http://stampingwithsandi.com/vintage-verses-chalkboard-technique/
I tried to get you the link but looks like I did something wrong? Go to her blog and look up chalkboard tech or Vintage Verses that will get you to the video.

Here is Sandi's card
Here is my card

In short the technique has an amazing effect but it is super simple to do!
Take a piece of black card stock and stamp an image in White Craft ink. Let Dry completely.
Then sponge a bit of the White Craft ink over the front of the card until it looks like a messy chalk board. I don't think I took a very good picture with my camera, because it doesn't look like the card in person.
I used water color pencils to color in the flowers and the image. Then used a Gel-Pen and a ruler to make the white edges.

I hope you look up Sandi's blog and see her video.

Well that's it for today I sure hope you get a chance to try this technique it is super simple to do.

Pickled Eggs Card

Hello to all my blogging friends I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Since moving to WV we have met some pretty nice people. We got really lucky and moved next door to  a super nice couple Lisa and Ernie. Well Lisa is introducing me to Southern cooking, she is a great cook.  She gave Jeff and I a big Jar of Pickled Eggs and Beets??? I didn't know what to think about that but, I did give them a try and boy oh boy are they good! Thanks Lisa. Here is the big jar and a bowl with beets and a sliced egg.

Here is a look at my card.
Lisa got a kick out of this card I hope you enjoy it too!

I used two  oval dies form SU and two circle punches to create the egg. I clear embossed a Raspberry Ripple piece of card stock to make the outside of the egg. For the inside of the egg I highlighted a piece  of Primrose Petals then punched a 1" circle piece of Sahara Sand and highlighted that. For the center egg yolk I punched a 3/4" circle in Daffodil Delight which I also highlighted. What do you think, does it look like a Pickled Egg?

This is a look at the inside.

Punch Art is lots of fun you should give it a try sometime. I learn my best tricks from Ellen Kemper she is a master at punching.

I hope you find some time to create something fun.

A little something for you today!

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you well and happy!

I finally figured out how to put a watermark on my cards. I have been using a new photo editing app called  Pixlr. It is very different from my last app so it took some getting used to. I hate learning curves!

I just got on Pinterest OMG! I could look around there for hours!!! I saw a ladies work that I thought was just amazing but when I went back so I could give her credit and I couldn't find her? Note to self Pin It? If you are she or know who she is please let me know and I will give you the credit you deserve! I think she called it water coloring on a printed paper?

Here is my take on this style.

I don't know if she embossed her image prior to water coloring, but I did. I used Black Embossing Powder for that because I wanted to keep the colors inside the flowers and not let it run. I did add a bit of white gel pen to the center of the flower to highlight the stamens that really makes the black pop!.

Here is the inside.
I used The Pursuit of Happiness, Blooming Marvelous and the Fabulous Florets stamp sets to create images. I used some of the Ribbon from the SAB items to make the bow. I love Naturals Ivory Card Stock, Basic Black and First Edition Specialty DSP together.
I used Tangerine Tango classic ink on the flower. All I did was slowly add layers of color from top to center. I let the ink dry with each layering so as to not mess up the DSP.

That's it for today's card. Hope you like it and you were inspired to try it!

I have a really fun card to share with you tomorrow so come back ok.

Happy SFF Friday

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

Well, I finally got a big order in and I have been playing with my new stuff the last couple of days. I'll have to show you it all very soon. New stuff is soooo cool but overwhelming he he he.

But for now it's Sketch Frenzy Friday time and this weeks sketch was designed by a very talented Sharon W, Isn't it a good one!

This is what I came up with.

I did something a bit different than the rest of the ladies in that I kept the top half of my background plain in stead of using a piece of DSP. My background piece is a solid piece of CS that I gave texture to it. I used the Stripes Folder for that. I have not used the Scoring Plate in a long time so that was a fun tool to pull out to make my focal image flower. I cut my DSP (First Edition Specialty) and scored it so that there would be a line going around the flower (If you look close you can see it). I think it makes it look like it is a double flower. For fun I made a pretty Daffodil Delight rosette to go around the 5/8" vanilla flower and added a pearl in the center to give rosette some bling.

Here is a list of all the SU (Stampin' Up) items I used to make this card.

Scoring Plate
5/8" Flower Trim
Basic Pearls
Daffodil Delight Seam Binding
Bitty Banners Framelits
Floral Fusion Sizzlits
Square Lattice Folder
Daffodil Delight, Basic Black, Naturals Ivory and Basic Grey Card Stock
Basic Grey Ink
Just Believe  and Pursuit of Happiness Stamp Sets

Here is a look at the inside.

Well that's all there is to it for today's card. We would love to see what you create from this sketch so by all means please download it on to the SFF Blog here http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/

I am pooped out. I have done more running around this week than I have done in months.

Have a great week please stop back by soon.
Thanks,
Patrice

Sketch Frenzy Friday 2/15/13

Hello to all my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine's Day and got to spend it with someone you love. Jeff came home yesterday from his business trip Yippee!!!~ We are going out on a date for Sushi on Sunday to do our Valentines celebrating. Sushi and my honey in one place is heaven- the only thing better is stamping lollol.

This weeks sketch was designed by another one of our great design team members, Robbie Rubula.
I looked at this sketch several times before I started and I am excited to show you my results. It really is a wonderful sketch with so many possibilities.

Here is Robbie's sketch.

This is what I came up with.

I couldn't wait to use this new Framelits set called Dresses Up. How is this for thinking totally out of the box lollollol! I can not tell you why the dress and the accessories popped into my head but I went with it. This sketch allowed me to follow the basic lines and format but it gave me the freedom to play a bit. I thought this pretty dress needed a stylish string of pearls a few flower accents a hat and a handbag to go along with it. I hope you were inspired by my card  and find some time to create something fun for all of us to see.

Here are all the SU (Stampin' Up) items I used to create this card.

Punches- Large and Small Ovals and the Itty Bitty Shapes Pack.
Framelits-  Dress Up and Bitty Banners
Impression Folder- Polka Dot
Ink- Basic Black
Stamp Set-Wacky Wishes
Card Stock- Basic Black, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper (DSP)- Summer Smooches (I love that red polka dot pattern)
Embellishments- Basic Pearls

Now here is a look at the inside,

I think this will make a really cute Birthday card don't you?

Well that's all there is to this weeks sketch. Please add your card to our home page at http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com/. We really love seeing what you all come up with.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 1/4/13

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this New Year brings you Much Love, Good Health and Happiness!

I'm telling you last year flew by. This time last year Jeff and I would never have dreamed we were going to be living in West Virginia never the less any other state but California. We are constantly in awe at the spender and beauty of this state. This is our first exposure to the seasons and we are enjoying the scenic changes. I thought Autumn was beautiful, but Winter is stunning too! We had 4 snow storms last month and our very first White Christmas ever! Some snow is till on the ground and the landscape is ever changing. The deer have started to wander through the property but only at night. I don't know if that is normal or not as I used to see a few in the early am?

Enough of the chit chat ! I be you are here to see this weeks sketch and my card so here you go.
This weeks sketch was designed by Tammy F. Once I got the design laid out in my head I had fun creating around it! Great job Tammy!

This is what I came up with;
I have been waiting to use this dress form from SU's Established Elegance stamp set for quite a while now ! The size of the stamp fit perfectly in the sketch! The form is Black Embossed and the Large Scallop Edgelits made a really nice border that shows off the forms shapely curves . The DSP is from the Summer Smooches paper pack. I used Basic Black CS for the matting.

Now here is look at the inside;
I just made two images of the form and attached the second one to a piece of scratch Basic Black cs. The sentiment is from the Blessings from Heaven stamp set. That's all there is to it!

Thanks for stopping by, I'll chat with you real soon. If you are inspired by this weeks sketch we would love to see what you come up with so please upload it to the SFF Blog at http://www.sketchfrenzyfriday.blogspot.com
