Sketch Frenzy Friday 2/1/13

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

As this month comes to a close we got our first little taste of a West Virginia winter with freezing temperatures and lots of snow. February, is supposed to bring  winter to it's peek with more of everything. My new friends here tell me to just settle back, stay warm and watch out for "Black Ice"? All these new terms this ex-Californian has to learn. "Black Icy and Icy Rain" were really strange terms until we experience them. They are dangerous weather conditions that's for sure!

 February, has another meaning to many of us besides more winter weather it's "Valentines ".  I am really blessed to be one of those really lucky ladies who get Valentines and Christmas all year long. My Honey is always bringing me home some sort of a surprise.Gotta LOVE that guy! Jeff leaves on a 10 day work trip this weekend and will come home on the 13th. So, I thought I would pack him 10 cards in his suit case one for every day he is gone. I'll share them with you too. The first one will begin with this weeks SFF Sketch.

My dear friend and a very creative paper crafter Maria Vanderform created this weeks sketch! I chose to work with her clean and simple sketch with a monochromatic pallet and then I added just a touch of red. Maria this was a great sketch to work with btw!. The last few sketches the other design team members have  really been thinking out of the box and have inspired me to get creative. So here is Maria's sketch and my interpretation.

SU Products I used on the card are listed below.
Bitty Banners Framelits, Little leaves Sizzlets, Beautiful Butterflies Bigz and Beautiful Wings Embosslits.
Fancy Fan Folder and the Square Lattice Folder. Summer Afternoon (Hostess) and Itty Bitty Banners Stamp sets. Real Red classic ink and Whisper White card stock.

What do you think, creative enough? I even turned the sketch from a tent shape to a standard card format. I often draw a ruff copy of the sketch on paper and then play with ideas a bit prior to making my card. This time, I drew an arrow from her focal image to the side of my worksheet and wrote a bunch of words/ideas of what to use as my focal image like; Hearts, Flowers, Ovals, Boxes, a cut out Image and Butterflies. I went with the butterflies then opted to go monochromatic. I thought red on the sentiment would be fun for a little splash of color.
Maria you got me thinking out of the box, thanks for the inspiration!

Now for a look at the inside.

Hope you enjoyed this weeks sketch and find some time to play along with us. We would love to see what you come up with. Please upload your cards to out home page here

Have a great week and thanks for stopping in.

SFF 1/25/13

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you well and happy!

It's Sketch Frenzy Friday time, and our very talented Kim Innis created this weeks sketch!. Boy is it a good one! I really had a lot of fun working with this sketch, creating all the layers and choosing all the elements. Here is her sketch;

This is what I came up with;

This is a list of all the SU products I used.
Early Espresso, Cajun Craze , Natural White and White Vellum card stock. Early Espresso classic Ink. 8 mm and Basic Pearls. From My Heart and Itty Bitty Banners stamp set and Bitty Banners Framelits. Vintage Wallpaper Folder and of course the Big Shot. I think I use the Big Shot on almost everything I create these days. Paper Piercing Pack, Ex Large Oval, Large Oval and Scallop Oval punches.

Here is a look at the inside;

I don't know what made me decide to emboss the vellum sheet, but I ran across a scrap of the Vintage Wallpaper and thought if I used the vellum it would create a neat looking texture. What do you think?The card looks really pretty in person, but I will definitely have to hand deliver this card as the 8 mm pearls just don't mail very well!

That's it for this weeks card. I sure hope you have time to create something fun for yourself too.  We all love admiring your creations so please upload them on to our home page. Thanks for stopping by.

Just a little something !

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all warm and happy!

Boy it's cold! It was 10 degrees out this morning when I got up to get Jeff's lunch packed. I heard it's only going to get to 18 degrees by this afternoon. I was looking at the news this morning and saw that CA was going to be in the 60's lol. Looks like those West Coast winters are a thing of the past for us.
I guess this is what winter is all about in WV! We are supposed to get some snow this week but not much I hear. I really do like watching it snow!

I found some time to create a card yesterday and thought I would share it with you! I think I will use this for a card swap club I belong to. It turned out to be a very cheery Birthday card after all was said and done. I was inspired by a sketch challenge I saw on line earlier this week, but I didn't write it down so I can not give that team credit! It was a fun sketch to work with.

Here is a list of all the SU items I used to create the card.
Turquoise Blue, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White card stock. Basic Black, Turquoise Blue Garden Green and Tangerine Tango classic inks. Summer Smooches DSP. Happiest Birthday Wishes stamp set (A retired Hostess set) But I still love the sentiments found in it) Polka Dot Embossing Folder.

This is a look at the inside;
That's all there is to it. I hope you find time to create something fun today too!.
Thanks for stopping by and we will chat soon.

Sketch Frenzy Friday 1/18/13

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

This weeks sketch was designed by one of our very creative design team members Jennifer W.
Jennifer, I have to admit you made me think about this one lol.
I loved the sketch and liked how my card turned out. It is so different from what I would normally come up with. I think that's what's so great about sketch challenges, they challenge you and they make you think!
Here is Jennifer's sketch;

This is what I came up with... well to tell you the truth I didn't like my first card and trashed it. This is my second try;

The first card I made had no POP or PIZZAZZ I hated it! These new colors really made me smile. They are bright and cheery and really POP!. I used Rich Razzleberry, Gumball Green and Midnight Muse card stock.The DSP is from the Summer Smooches set. I ran the Rich Razzleberry and the Midnight Muse cs through the Big Shot using the Polka Dot and Strips Embossing Folders. I made a cute little Bow out of Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon. The sentiment  is from the From My Heart stamp set and I used Rich Razzleberry classic Ink on it.

Here is a look at the inside;

The inside sentiment was from the Apothecary Art stamp set. This card is about as clean and simple as I could possibly make it. I really like how it turned out!

I hope you like my card and get some inspiration from it. Jennifer made a terrific sketch and I would love to see what you come up with! Please upload your creation on to our main page here

That's all there is for this week. I hope you come back soon and find some time to create something fun for yourself.

SFF 1/11/13

Hello to all my blogging friends. I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

I'm so glad to be back stamping for SFF. I sure did  miss this very talented group of ladies! This weeks sketch was designed by Deb Currier. Isn't it great! You did good Deb.

I really did have fun with this sketch! Here is what I cam up with;

I had a ball playing with all the bright colors! The Tiny Tags and matching Tag Punch really came in handy on this card.  I added one of the large cloth brads that match the DSP to the top of the red banner. Then I tied a little Bakers Twine Bow around the brad and hung several tag images and sentiments. I think it really added a bit of bling to the card. The DSP Summer Smooches is full of bright colors and great patterns. I think the Turquoise Blue paired with the Real Red card stock gave this DSP some pop!

I carried the banner on to the inside of the card too.

That's all there is to it! Have a great week I hope you get a chance to create something fun for yourself. Up load it to our home page here.  Please stop by again!

SFF 12/28/12

Hello to all my blogging friends. I hope this New Year is filled with family and friends, lots of new adventures and much happiness for all of us.

We were so excited to see snow for the first time X-Mas Eve. I had no idea how beautiful snow could be! It makes for a whole new landscape that we had only viewed on TV or in photos. I will show you some more photos on another post. For now lets see some cards!

Sharon Wheet created this weeks sketch! This sketch has the makings to produce really beautiful cards. Thanks Sharon you did good!
I really had fun with it and used some more of the Merry Moments Simply Scrappin' Kit pieces.

Here is her sketch:

and this is my card:

I used a piece of Brushed Silver card stock and one of the designer frames from the Designer Frames Folders to make the holder for the sentiment. The sentiment is from the Blessings from Heaven stamp set. The flower and additional pieces (flower and paper) are from the Simply Scrappin' Kit. The background pieces of card stock are the Designer Series Paper sheets that come with the set. I think it is a very versatile set and can be utilized for more that just Christmas Cards!

Here is a look at the inside:

There you have it. I hope you enjoy the sketch that Sharon made of us this week and give it a try. If you do create a card from the sketch please download it on to our home page we would love to see it.

Thanks for stopping by this week, I hope you too find some time to create something fun!
