My Little Patch of Dirt One year later

Hello to all my blogging friends, I hope this post finds you all well and happy!

It has been one year since we made the move to Redlands. I have been really hard at work on My Little Patch of Dirt  ever since we moved in. I just wanted to share some before and after photos with you.

June 2011 when we moved in this is what it looked like. I had an idea there was potential in this patch of dirt. I mean look at Las Vegas add a little water and see what grows. Honestly I really didn't know if I could pull it off but what the heck all I had was time oh and water.
I brought several of my plants with me as you can see in the third photo. I notices as I was watering them grass was starting to grow? I used to go out every morning and pull 60-80 weeds. It was a ton of work but after awhile more grass  patches started to show up.+I lost a lot of those plants after the move but split and transplanted many others.  The next photos show us making the island.
We finally got the island built, the waterfall going, the swing up the car port covered and the two cabanas up and covered. These photos are from about mid August. Progress slow but sure. See how the patches of grass are starting to show up.

Now One Year Later.
The new photos are from last weekend. I love having our friends and family over for BBQ's. If I am not playing in the craft room you can can find me out on the swing reading a book and or just working on the yard .

Well I guess a little bit of water and a lot of hard work pays off. We really do enjoy our new Patch of Dirt. Who would have thought the sadness of losing a home could feel so different one year later.
Thanks for stopping by My Little Patch of Dirt. I'm going out side and sit on the swing and enjoy the rest of the day.
Chat soon, Patrice

Wow, what a transformation for just a years time. You definitely have a green thumb. Wanna come work on mine next, my thumb is definitely not green, kinda' a green-black. If I forget about it it will grow, if I love it, it will die. LOL! You can come to VA and work on my yard anytime. I have been able to keep up with my little garden in front, but the back yard has gone to pot, or I should say to weed. I can't get down now to pull them. Hopefully, next year when DS and DIL come back to VA they can help me get it back in shape. DS like to garden and use to help me.

Glad your new little patch of dirt is becoming home to you.

Yep, looks like I need to pack and afternoon stamp bag, grab some treats, and make a lil' detour on my way home from work soon! ;0)

How beautiful!! I am so proud of you my friend. You are talented not only with paper but with the earth. My nephews are so cute. Thank you for showing us the beauty of southern CA and around where I used to work. I miss it (sometimes) but mostly I miss you.
